Who are we?
We are Jeff and Carol, we are married and we started to Country Western Dance together about three years ago. In the beginning, there were no dance moves, no boots, no hats, no rhythm lol. It was just two people who loved each other and wanted to learn to Country Western Dance. So, we took the plunge at The Ranch Saloon (a Country Western Dance Saloon) in Anaheim Calif. We both had connections to Texas and Country Western music sang to us. The Bar R in our LOGO is the family’s Seay Ranch Branding.
Our journey…
We started dancing 1 night a week at The Ranch. We took the free two-step lessons. After about 3 months, we were still feeling frustrated. So we began taking private lessons with Shelly and began really practicing. We started out in the alley behind our house (it was a nice long level stretch to practice our two-step). Our neighbors would see us Country Western Dancing out back like fools. But we didn’t care. We even broke out dancing at our grand-daughter’s running marathon. We couldn’t resist when they played the song “Cotton Eyed Joe,” we looked at each other and began dancing. One day, lo and behold, we actually got better in our dancing. “Practice makes perfect.” Feeling the rhythm of the music/dances started to emerge instead of worrying what foot we needed to be on and how we needed to stand and hold our hands. And boy what a big Shocker…we we even began taking a few risks and changed up our combinations (albeit it is a process in the making). We also started doing new line dancing steps on the dance floor!
Where we are now!
My husband went from wearing boat shoes (honest truth) to real cowboy boots and a cowboy hat. Last year, we decided we wanted to travel more and visit country western dance venues in different cities across America. Since then we have visited a dozen plus dance places. Soon, we began to realize what makes a good Country Western Dance venue. And, what kind of venue fits different types of Country Western Dance styles.
We established the Boot Scootin’ Review as our forum to help you as you look for/travel to a place to dance. We wanted you to find the best dance places, all things Country Western and more from our travels. You’ll find that we added some favorite Country Western Apparel and Accessory items ( if you’re looking for some country western apparel to dance in). Also, we added Upcoming Events which we will write about real soon. Coming up next, we will be at the National Rodeo Finals and Cowboy Christmas Convention in Las Vegas in December, can’t wait to share that experience with you!
Happy Boot Scootin’ to y’all no matter where you go and what you do!
