Hi y”all ! We’re back. Lol. Where have we been? Well, we were lured to the San Bernardino Mountains during the beautiful winter snowfall. At first, it started out as a day to view the snow while it is actually falling. The snowfall was so beautiful that we could actually see the crystals forming the snowflakes! On our first trip we tried tubing and then Jeff mentioned that skiing was much more exciting. So, on our next trip, you guessed it, we went skiing! I was hooked. Each time we heard it was going to snow, we just packed up “the truck” and headed up to the mountain. The snowfall was 143” in our mountains this year. Truly a great ski season for Southern California. We even spent Jeff’s 70th Birthday skiing!
We are so glad to be back and sharing our country dancing with y’all. BTW, while we were skiing up in the Big Bear Mountain Resort, we also danced the night away at Wyatt’s Grill and Saloon. Loved dancing there and have met some real nice people. The Big Bear Village (the social section of town) had some really fun places to eat such as The Himalayan, Royal Thai, Sweet Basil and The Peppercorn. The most notable new place is Gaby’s Latin Flavors. There, we met Gaby and her husband Carlos. Their food is Bolivian based, made with fresh ingredients and homemade recipes from Gaby. She uses olive oil and keeps frying to a minimum. Our best to them, and her delicious avocado salad.
Our take away from this extended vacation was that our health is the most important aspect of our retirement lives. Without it, we would not be able to do our active life style. I was reminded of this fact when I had my first fall! The muscles and strength required to ski are considerable for a first- time skier (esp. for my age, even though I was told falling is a normal happening…why wasn’t I told? Lol to think about all the muscles I had to use to get back up! I definitely plan to strengthen these muscles some more before next ski season. Our concentration will be on pre-skiing exercises before next season. Our current exercise plan is: Monday Home Exercises, Tuesdays Yoga, Wednesday Country Dancing, Thursday Weights, Fri. and/or Sat. Country Dancing, and now with summer heading our way, we hope to be biking at the beach and swimming.
Beyond the exercising, we thought we’d share with you right now our eating and supplement routines to stay healthy. Today I’ll talk about food and nutrition because being on the go, means eating less nutritious meals than we would like. If you click on our new wellness tab, you’ll see the type of foods and beverages we use to keep our diets very healthy and nutritious. Hope you like it, and hope to see you dancing soon!
